Wind River is looking for a Sr. Director of Business Development to
manage and a lead a core team responsible for building strategic
relationships, positioning Wind River’s products and developing partnering and
business models with key semiconductor and board vendors.
Reporting to the VP of Strategy & Corporate Development, the Sr.
Director of Business Development is expected to help develop and foster
business relationships with partners and manage a 10 to 15 person team that
focuses on business development with the leading semiconductor
companies and board vendors worldwide. S/he will work closely with the
Marketing, Sales, and the product Management organizations to forge business
and technical relationships with targeted partners. The Sr. Director of
Business Development will prepare and present recommendations to the VP
of Strategy & Corporate Development and other members of the Executive
Team as well as facilitate decision making by providing clear, concise,
and relevant information. This individual will be aware of relevant
embedded software technologies, key players and related market trends,
and will have an established network in appropriate areas. The successful
candidate will articulate the vision, strategy, and capabilities of
the Company’s technologies and products. Importantly, s/he will establish
a scalable business development plan that will adapt to the changing
needs of a growing organization. A skilled manager, s/he will be able
to recruit, manage, and motivate a talented product planning and
management team.
Responsibilities:
· Manage a team responsible for building and fostering credible
high-level relationships with a targeted list of Wind River’s Strategic
partners
· Understand the detailed strategy of each partner and use to help
drive Wind River’s strategic direction. This involves tight communications
with Marketing, Engineering and Executive Management.
· Create and manage a strategic plan for each partner. Communicate and
drive the plan throughout the virtual team.
· Pro-actively create the demand for Wind River solutions through tight
two-way strategic partnerships, than include technical, marketing and
sales elements
· Develop and maintain a strong presence within each strategic partner.
You should be viewed as a trusted advisor and partner.
· Participate in negotiating and closing large deals.
· Communicate the Wind River mission to customers, partners and
employees alike.
Job Requirements:
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of ten years of proven
high-level achievement in software business development with a track record in
successfully and aggressively closing deals. The individual will be
capable of articulating complex technical concepts to customers,
prospects, industry analysts and pundits, partners, and the press. S/he will be
intelligent and able to work equally well with customers, partner
executives, salespeople, marketing professionals, and product planning
groups. This role will require a solid understanding of the embedded
software and RTOS markets, with the ability to successfully manage a team that
will translate this understanding into business development
strategies.
The successful candidate will also have experience in a company known
for its excellent processes, and s/he be able to bring disciplined
process in product planning and management to the Company. S/he will have
demonstrated the ability to establish a vision and roadmap, and lead a
team to meet business objectives. This individual will also make
decisions and influence the organization to accept them.
The Sr. Director of Business Development will be an honest, open
communicator who possesses strong points of view, is willing to debate, and
is able to make tough decisions. S/he will be apolitical, and while
consensus driven, is able to drive toward a conclusion that is embraced by
each team in the organization. S/he will possess good business
judgment, be a senior manager capable of determining the most effective and
efficient way to organize and use resources, and be a person of high
integrity. Finally, the successful candidate will possess a strong work
ethic, high level of energy, be flexible, and have a sense of humor and
resilience.
· 10+ years of Alliance, Sales or Business Development management
experience with an emphasis on high tech industries
· Deep understanding of the key semiconductor and board vendors
· Experience in managing the development of go-to-market strategies
with partners
· Excellent presentation and public speaking skills
· BS/BA Business or Technical Discipline
