Be A Mentor, Inc. is a private nonprofit 501(c)(3)focused on providing mentors to children and youth. Be A Mentor has two major strands in its business model. The first is to provide direct service and management of descrete mentoring projects. In this area Be A Mentor is responsible for creating mentor-mentee matches. The second is to leverage the proprietary, web-based, Mentor Management System, by developing a world wide market (English speaking) for youth services organizations to include mentoring as a component of existing services being rendered to children and youth.
Description: Motivated, detail-oriented, and self-directed individual. This person will assume responsibility for directing the fund development effort. This includes developing and maintaining revenue streams via government, private foundation, and corporate grants. He will develop partnerships and create opportunities to work with youth services organizations to jointly apply for funding that will add mentoring to their already existing services.
A strong focus area is to fully understand existing, already funded, mentoring projects and attract supplemental funding from a variety of sources.
Requirements:
5-7 years of business/fund development experience;
Proven ability to meet or exceed project goals;
Generate $2 million in foundation and corporate funding and $5 million in government funding;
Demonstrated understanding of high-risk youth environment and culture;
Mastery of MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint);
Demonstrated ability to write proposals appropriate to the corporate, foundation, and government sectors;
Demontrated ability to use the Internet for research and for marketing;
Demonstrated strong speaking skills.
Compensation based on experience and ability.
