Project Manager - PlayStation Network
Foster City, California
The PLAYSTATION Network Project Manager will be responsible for driving
PLAYSTATION Network online service projects from inception through to
deployment. This is an opportunity to work with PlayStation, the game
industry leader, and be a part of the exciting evolution taking place in
games and entertainment. As PLAYSTATION Network Project Manager, you
would perform an integral role in delivering the next-generation online
experience to millions of gamers. In addition to the necessary
qualifications and experience, the right candidate will possess passion for
console games and an understanding of the game industry.
Responsibilities:
* Taking an extremely proactive role to piece together disparate pieces
of information from many sources to create and document a thorough
understanding of the scope, tasks, and execution method for the project.
* Owning the project schedule, task assignment, and schedule progress -
from large phases through to detailed tasks, including understanding
and managing dependencies.
* Collaborating with staff and management of multiple business units
and outside 3rd parties (including subject matter experts, design teams,
and technology teams ) to clearly identify, explain, and communicate
their project involvement, project goals, expectations, and tasks.
* Identifying, assigning, and tracking project tasks for all involved
people, including providing personalized communication / collaboration
for each task, as well as quality assurance on all deliverables.
* Identifying opportunities and challenges within projects and across
the PLAYSTATION Network as a whole, with proactive work towards
leveraging opportunities and mitigating challenges.
Requirements:
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. Must
work effectively and professionally with internal cross-functional
groups as part of a team, as well as with third-party content providers.
Must excel in conflict resolution, negotiation, and people management
across Western and Japanese cultures. Must be comfortable with authoring
many types of documents, including scope, requirements, agendas, action
plans, and project plans. Must excel with follow up, proactivity, and
constant, targeted communication.
* Must exhibit meticulous attention to detail, and have the ability to
make good, timely decisions in a fast-paced, time-constrained
environment. Must be as comfortable in the fray with small daily problems, as
with planning a long term project plan. Must be able to maintain strict
confidentiality and exercise good judgment when dealing with privileged
or sensitive information. Motivated, organized self-starter with the
ability to solve routine or complicated problems effectively and react
with appropriate urgency to situations and events that require quick
response or turnaround.
* Requires proficiency in Lotus Notes, Microsoft Office: Word, Excel,
and PowerPoint, Internet Applications. Should be familiar enough with
internet technologies, programming languages, internet usability, and
internet design to navigate, drive forward, steer conversations, and
identify resolutions between groups with different goals or different levels
of understanding. Must be comfortable working with large networks and
database driven systems. A thorough understanding of web publishing
protocols and/or e-commerce is highly desirable.
* Able to identify and execute strong, efficient processes, while
working to refine and optimize existing processes.
* 3-5+ years experience working in an project management capacity for
internet technology projects. Internet community, online social
networking, or gaming/entertainment, e-commerce knowledge preferred. A passion
for console gaming and/or working in the video game industry is
required.
